Standard PCMCIA CompactFlash Type I adapter (also known as
CF adapter, Card Reader, Reader / Writer).
Comes with a plastic protective case, and designed to
nicely slide into your laptop or PDA
This adapter allows you to read CompactFlash cards from your camera
directly through your laptop PCMCIA slot. It is the fastst way to access the card,
and it appears just as a regular drive so all pictures can be drag-dropped between
the card and your storage. This adapter supports all memory card sizes:

Besides memory cards, it can also work with all other devices having CompactFlash
connector provided you have the appropriate drivers for your device. I.e. the most
common would be a CF WiFi or GPRS card.
If you need to connect a CompactFlash Type 2 device (such as a MicroDrive), then
you need a Type 2 adapter. Type 2 are a bit thicker, and therefore they require an
open space above and below to fit the PCMCIA height.
This adapter by itself does not require any drivers. It is a passive device.
Only the CompactFlash device you connect will need drivers. Memory cards
already have drivers built-into all versions of OS.
